Sts John Fisher and Thomas More, martyrs
1 candle lit
Sts John Fisher and Thomas More died for conscience in 1535. Fisher, born in 1469, was a bishop at 35, Chancellor of Cambridge and a cardinal. More, born in 1478, was a lawyer and Chancellor of England, and a father of four. Both refused to accept Henry VIII's claim to be head of the Church in England. Fisher was held in the Tower of London for 14 months without trial. Both were beheaded and canonized in 1935. Their feast is June 22. Light a free candle for freedom of conscience. Sts John Fisher and Thomas More, pray for us.
