For a special intention
Sts Isaac Jogues, John de Brébeuf and Companions
1 candle lit
These Jesuit missionaries worked among the Huron people in eastern Canada and the northeastern United States. Isaac Jogues and Jean de Brébeuf led the group, and eight Jesuits died for the faith between 1642 and 1649. They are the first martyrs of North America officially recognized by the Church, and were canonized in 1930. Noel Chabanel found mission life very hard, yet vowed to stay until death. Their feast is October 19. Light a free candle for missionaries and for the peoples of North America. Sts Isaac Jogues and John de Brébeuf, pray for us.
