1 candle lit

Peter Julian Eymard was born in 1811 in La Mure, in the French Alps, and was ordained a priest in 1834. He joined the Marists, but his heart was drawn to Jesus in the Eucharist. In 1856 he founded the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament in Paris, and later, with Marguerite Guillot, the Servants of the Blessed Sacrament. He died in La Mure in 1868, and Pope John XXIII canonised him in 1962. His feast is August 2. Light a free candle for those who pray before the Eucharist. St Peter Julian Eymard, pray for us.
