St Norbert, founder of the Norbertines

St Norbert lived from about 1080 to 1134. He founded the Premonstratensian order, also called the Norbertines, at Prémontré in France. Later he became archbishop of Magdeburg in Germany, a region partly pagan and partly Christian, though he accepted the post reluctantly. He worked to renew lax believers and to reconcile people in conflict, and he stood firm against teachings that denied the Blessed Sacrament. He died on 6 June 1134. His feast is June 6.
