St Mary Magdalene, Apostle to the Apostles

Mary of Magdala was freed by Jesus from seven demons, as Luke's Gospel tells, and she followed him. She stood by the cross with his mother, and she was the first to see the empty tomb and the first to hear that he had risen. Jesus sent her to tell the apostles, so the Church calls her the apostle to the apostles. Tradition often confused her with the sinful woman of Luke 7, but Scripture does not say so.
