St Kateri Tekakwitha

1 candle lit

Kateri Tekakwitha, the Lily of the Mohawks, was born in 1656 to a Mohawk father and an Algonquin mother. Smallpox scarred her face and weakened her eyes, but she held to her faith through hardship. She was canonized in 2012, the first Indigenous saint of the United States and Canada. Her feast is July 14 in the United States and April 17 in Canada. Light a candle for Native peoples. St Kateri, pray for us.
