St Justin Martyr, Philosopher and Apologist
1 candle lit
Justin was born around the year 100 and spent his young years studying the pagan philosophers, drawn first to Plato. He became a Christian when he found that the faith answered life's deepest questions better than they did. He kept dressing as a philosopher and never stopped searching for truth. He wrote two Apologies to the Roman emperor and Senate, defending Christians. He was beheaded in Rome around 165 and is patron of philosophers. His feast is June 1. Light a free candle for students and anyone seeking truth. St Justin, pray for us.
