For a special intention

St José Gregorio Hernández, doctor of the poor

1 candle lit

José Gregorio Hernández was a Venezuelan doctor who treated the poor for free and often paid for their medicine himself. He was killed by a car in Caracas in 1919, on his way to a patient. He was canonized in 2025, and people pray to him for the sick and for their doctors. His feast is October 26. Light a candle for someone who is ill. St José Gregorio, pray for us.
