St Gertrude the Great

1 candle lit

St Gertrude was a nun of the monastery of Helfta, in Germany, in the thirteenth century, who wrote of Christ's love in The Herald of Divine Love. She is the only woman saint the Church calls "the Great". Her prayer for the holy souls in purgatory is one of the best loved prayers for the dead, and we say it at the end of every Rosary we pray, day and night. Her feast is November 16. Light a free candle for the souls in purgatory. St Gertrude, pray for us.
