St Christopher Magallanes and Companions, Mexican martyrs

St Christopher Magallanes was a Mexican priest, born in 1869 and parish priest of Totatiche in Jalisco. When priests' training was banned, he secretly ran a small seminary there. He and 24 companions, mostly priests and three laymen, were killed between 1915 and 1937 because they would not give up their faith. Christopher died on 25 May 1927. They were beatified in 1992 and canonized in 2000. Their feast is May 21. Light a free candle for Christians who suffer for their faith today. Sts Christopher Magallanes and Companions, pray for us.
