St Charles Borromeo, patron of catechists

St Charles Borromeo was cardinal and Archbishop of Milan, and one of the great reformers of the Church after the Council of Trent. He founded seminaries to train priests and schools to teach children the faith. When famine and plague struck Milan in 1576, he stayed while many fled, and spent his own fortune feeding and caring for the sick. Pope Paul V canonized him in 1610. His feast is November 4.
