1 candle lit

Cajetan was born in 1480 in northern Italy and trained as a lawyer before becoming a priest. He joined the Oratory of Divine Love in Rome. In 1524 he helped found the Theatines with Gian Pietro Carafa, later Pope Paul IV, to renew the clergy. In Naples he founded a charitable bank to protect the poor from moneylenders, which later became the Bank of Naples. He died in Naples on August 7, 1547, and was canonised in 1671. His feast is August 7. Light a free candle for anyone struggling with money or work. St Cajetan, pray for us.
